My first introduction to art was drawing and painting. In recent times, I have been inspired to create a painting based on a photograph I have taken. Coming from photography, it is challenging to achieve a sense of realism within painting. However, while I toil at recreating a sense of light and form on canvas or paper, I have come to meditate on the inherent beauty of my subject matter.

The ‘Medium Running’ series has a particular connection to photography through its medium. I painted with inkjet printer ink as an experimentation. I was able to see what cyan, magenta, yellow, and black looked like when used outside of a printing environment. Using this ink outside of traditional means, I aim to rethink what the future of photography holds beyond digital images and inkjet prints.
